Thomas Eichert is Professor of Physiology and Practice of Plant Nutrition at the Faculty of Landscape Architecture, Horticulture and Forestry at the University of Applied Sciences Erfurt.

He is a leading expert in foliar nutrition and has made major contributions to the understanding of the principles of foliar nutrient uptake and environmental factors controlling this process. He has profound experience in experimental design, in the development of new, problem-oriented experimental approaches and statistical analysis and inter­pretation of data.

Apart from foliar nutrition, his research focuses on plant ecophysiology, nutrient mobility in plants, and plant availability of nutrients in soils and fertilizers. He contributed to the 3rd edition of Marschner‘s textbook: “Mineral Nutrition of Higher Plants”. In 2016, he won the University award for “excellent teaching”.
